DAN DUNGAN, EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN OF Springfield Electric Supply, headquartered in Springfield, Ill., is a competitive guy. But don’t confuse competitive with cutthroat. By all accounts, Dungan’s vision of success is one that lifts all boats. He seeks success not only for his company, but also for his associates, his local community, and, as the new chair of NAED, the industry as a whole. “He is competitive and he wants to win every time,” said Chris Scarbrough, CEO. “However, he also wants success for the associate owners, and he’s there to support us in whatever way he can. When you talk to him, there is a side of him that is very sensitive and caring. In times of chal- lenge, I knew I could go to Dan and he would listen and support me.” “Many people are aware that he’s completed 21 Iron- man competitions, but I don’t know if they realize how involved he is in the local community,” explained Mark Barthel, president. “He sits on a lot of local boards and the local chamber of commerce. On a personal level, as someone who joined the company from the supplier side, he has been a true mentor and coach in understand- ing the distributor side of the business and integrating
