dium lighting strategy,” said Guzy. Roughly three months later, the perimeter of the facility and infield of the track were outfitted with Ephesus Stadium 750 LED professional sports lights from Eaton. “Offering instant-on technology and the ability to improve the quality of the experience for fans in atten- dance as well as for HDTV broadcasts, Eaton’s Ephesus LED fixtures were the right choice for the customer,” Guzy explained, adding that after the installation, “the surface of the track is now bright and well lit and offers great visibility for both drivers and fans.” Campbell agreed that the project was well worth the investment. “Our new lighting is unbelievable—it’s crisp, bright, and clean-looking and there’s not a shadow on the entire track,” he said. “There’s just no com- parison between LEDs and standard lights.” Old Track Meets New Lights “We see ourselves as quarterbacks for our customers and met the speed- way’s strict deadlines on time and on budget,” said Guzy of the landmark project, which also involved Graybar’s provision of more than 13 miles of wire and other electrical products. “It was great to bring a state-of- the-art lighting solution to one of NASCAR’s most historic tracks and exciting to have been a part of it,” he added. “It’s one of the most fun proj- ects I’ve ever worked on and it will contribute significantly to the fan experience.” “As a driver, I always get excited about coming to Martinsville,” said Dale Earnhardt Jr., driver of the No. 88 Chevrolet SS for Hendrick Motor- sports. “Adding lights to the track will only add to its legacy.” Campbell too couldn’t be more ex- cited about the future. “Our window of opportunity is now wide open,” he said of the installation, which has made the speedway the first major motorsports facility in the United States to utilize LED technology. “For the oldest track in America to have the newest lights is pretty cool, and we’re proud to have undertaken a measure that ensures that Martins- ville continues to be one of the pre- mier destinations in motorsports,” Campbell concluded. ; Bloom is a 25-year veteran of the lighting and electrical products industry.
