“I am always impressed by how much I am able to learn by idea sharing with other distributors. This is one of the greatest benefits of our association.”
—DAVID DE STEIGER, IT manager,
Raymond de Steiger, Inc., Detroit
While David de Steiger is rel- atively new to his position, he is no stranger to the
industry. He worked in the company
warehouse during high school and
college, returning full time after
gaining operations and IT consulting
experience in outside industries. In
two-and-a-half years he has completed NAED’s EDGE and EPEC Bronze
programs and regularly attends industry training and conferences.
How has training helped advance
your career? EDGE and EPEC Bronze
gave me a solid foundation of knowledge to complement my on-the-job
training. Since then I have regularly
attended NAED Regional and National
Meetings, LEAD, AdVenture, the Technology Bootcamp, and the IDEA eBiz
Forum.
How does your company encourage
you to complete industry training?
Raymond de Steiger, Inc. feels very
strongly about training—industry specific as well as technical and soft
skills. We also almost always send a
representative from our company to
industry shows and meetings.
What is your next career goal? In
my role as IT manager, we have several new systems and advancements
that we hope to bring live in the next
six to 12 months. I also aspire to
manage a branch.
